The Skylines and GT-Rs keep coming, and I don't hear much complaining about it.

And now it is Kyosho's turn.  They have done plenty of Skylines and GT-Rs in the past, but they have done some refreshes and are now making the GT-R the subject of their second lottery game.

You might remember the first Kyosho x Sunkus lottery.  The theme was McLaren, and those interested in Japan would go to the Sunkus Market and pay for a lottery ticket.  Based on the numbers pulled, they can win one of the standard models, maybe a special 4-car GT-R set, one of two Sor even a radio-controlled car.

Our friends at Japan Booster, however, are going to eliminate the guessing game, and are making all portions of the lottery available now for preorder:

You may or may not be interested in the radio controlled car, but there are some real beauties nonetheless to pursue.  The Vision Concept is very interesting, and it is nice to see the Nismo versions on the GT-R and R34.

Another new series from Kyosho, and this one is a nice small set.

Frankly, the small sets are most welcome.  It is refreshing little reprieve from the big sets, and offers collectors who have been on the fence in the past a chance to see how great these Kyosho models really are.

Especially with the set contains two new castings - the Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 and Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo.  There are three versions of each casting, and it is already available to preorder at Japan Booster:

Kyosho Alfa Romeo Series 4 Set and Singles are now out at Japan Booster...

Driving today through Southwestern Utah, and I stopped off at Ray's in Green River (you Jeep Safari types might be familiar with the famous tavern) to let you know that Kyosho Alfa Romeo is now available at the Japan Booster eBay store.

That is a lot of information in one sentence, and maybe a sentence that doesn't make a ton of sense.  I am in Jeep country talking about Alfa Romeos available in Japan.

Hmmm, that still is convoluted.  Ok, forget the Jeep country part.  Let's talk about Alfa Romeo, made by Kyosho, sold in Japan.  My good friend Jeff Koch is in Japan, and thought he would hit the local 7/11  - they sell diecast there in Japan - the morning the Kyosho Alfa set was released, and this is what he encountered:

Alfa Romeo has a gotten a lot of attention lately, especially with the 8C and 4c, and that has in turn led to the beauty of Alfa classics.  Both eras are well represented in the set, and appear to be executed really well.  Some are repeat castings, but considering how hard the older versions are to find, these will be most welcome.

This is what you call a fast post.

Fast, because if I spend a normal amount of time constructing the post, much of the good stuff available at Curitiba Customs will already be claimed.

Meet the new Lamley Header...

It was time to retire the Kenmeri.

She's been a trooper, holding up the Header on the Lamley Blog for the last couple of years.  She has been paraded around on your computer and phones for awhile, and it was well-deserved, as I count that '72 Tokyo Motor Show Kenmeri from Kyosho among my favorite models.

The Kenmeri followed our first header model, a Yonmeri Skyline from Aoshima, and the second, a Porsche 912 from Tomica Limited Vintage, and took its place longer than both combined.  But it was time to make the change.

So we jumped continents again, back to Germany, and went with another Lamley favorite, the BMW M6, also from Kyosho.  I went through a lot of candidates, included some from my home country.  The only rule?  No Hot Wheels, no Matchbox.  You get enough of those, so the Header will always feature a lesser-known brand.

So we went with BMW.  It came down to the 2002 and M6, but I went with a design that has gotten featured as much in diecast.  The M6 is a fave.  Its long, slender body, and Simpson nose and overbite make it so distinct.  And Kyosho nailed the model.

So get used to this one, it will be here awhile.  More changes are coming, but that is it for now.

And yeah, the M6 is available on eBay.  Definitely worth having...

First Look: Kyosho Initial-D Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno...

We are the hypers.

I really enjoy when I get comments about how I irresponsibly hype items.  I never knew showing models I like on a blog you can choose to read or not would constitute that, but whatever.  I didn't wake up one morning and decide to hype cars.  I just post what I like, find interesting, or dislike so much it merits coverage.  And yeah, what I think Lamley readers might find interesting.

So if readers like it too, I guess I hyped it.  So get ready for more hype, because I really like the model I am featuring today.  And yeah, I am going to provide a link to where you can get one yourself.

The model is the Kyosho Initial D Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno.  I try not to come at models from the angle of the entertainment - in this case, comics and tv - it was based on, even if it is the sacred Initial D.  The panda AE86 is as iconic a car as KITT and and Doc's Delorean are here in the US.  But I try and go from the angle of the car itself, so here it is.

The Initial-D AE86 is definitely a one-without-the-other scenario.  AE86 means drift, which made it perfect for the street racing stories of Initial D, which made the drift scene what it is today.  One big circle.  The one thing about the Initial D AE86 is it remains, looks-wise, as AE86'-y as it did when it was first made.  Aftermarket Wats and other small changes still don't take away from the terrific panda look.

There have been a lot of replicas done in the past, including an unofficial nod from Hot Wheels a couple of years ago.  But no Kyosho, until now.  It is a perfect match, especially since Kyosho has already done the AE86 in the past.  So they got the license, dusted off the mold, and now we have Takumi Fujiwara's Sprinter.

I have one of the older panda AE86's, so it was imperative to put them together, and it is a pleasing sight.  As much as I want to focus on the car itself, the important place this car takes in Japanese auto culture makes it that much more worth having.

Of course, a lot of people think that, and expectantly the Kyosho has been immensely popular.  But our friends at Japan Booster do have it, and when it inevitably sells out, try to list more as soon as possible.  And as always, pair it with some other Kyosho or TLV to total over $50, and you get free shipping.  Totally worth it.

Hype machine is on, and it is humming...
