The splendidly stock '69 Nissan Skyline 2000GT is coming to Tomica Limited Vintage...

My fondness for stock Skylines continues to grow...

In a parade of GT-R's or GT-R conversions, it is the stock Skylines that stand out more and more.  Could be a GT-R sitting high on steelies, or a standard uncut sedan sporting a fully intact surfline.  (Save the surfline!)

For whatever reason I flock to stock, whether untouched or slightly modded, and I am sure that is why I have such a fondness for Tomica Limited Vintage.  I have mentioned it before, but TLV is religiously committed to stock as well.  They won't replicate a model unless they have the actual car in studio to study, and they try to get every detail right, even in 1/64.

They are also committed to all Japanese cars.  That is why you are more likely to see an early Isuzu Gemini in the line as opposed to the Toyota 2000GT or a C10 GT-R.  Of course I would love to see TLV tackle those models, but I am happier seeing them replicate what Japanese roads looked like in the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's.

So you can imagine I was pretty stoked when I learned the '69 Nissan Skyline 2000GT was coming to the line.  The '69 is the pre-2-door version, and while there is a GT-R version, this is the model Pop drove to work.

It is set for a January 2017 debut, and will come in red and silver.  And check out those stock hubs!  Just like the real car:

This will be a beauty, and of course a must-have.  This means we have two superbly stock Skylines coming - a $1 '71 2000GT-X from Matchbox this fall, and this premium version from TLV a few months afterwards.

Save the surfline!

There is no better way to celebrate Datsun 510 Day than with a...Skyline?

Matchbox did just that, unveiling the FEP of the upcoming '71 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-X on their @matchboxworld Instagram feed:

More extensive previews are yet to come, but consider our appetites properly whetted.  Word is it will be out sometime this fall...

First Look: Hot Wheels Road Trippin' Nissan Skyline H/T 2000GT-X...

Here is the thing I hate about that Lamley Blog:  (Or is it Lamely?)

They are all about JDM, and they hype that sh*t out of it.  No one liked Japanese cars until the Lamley Group started hyping them.  It is all their damn fault.  Datsun 510's hung on the pegs until Lamley started blabbering on about them.  And that is all they talk about.  They have never done anything about Camaros or Corvettes or Mustangs, just JDM.

That is why there is no doubt that after hardly covering the Road Trippin' Series, I am sure they will take a ton of photos of the new Hakosuka Skyline in the series, together with all the Hot Wheels Hakosukas, and go on and on about how cool it is, and how it remains one of their favorites.

They would say something about how the deco on the Road Trippin' version is better than they thought, and that the shimmery red really stands out.  And while "Kaido Racer" might not be the most subtle reference to Japan Car Culture, it still looks cool, and the simplicity of the design and colors works really well.

Of course all that Lamley hype would push the prices on eBay into the stratosphere, and all those damn scalpers would pick up all of them and sell them for crazy prices.

I used to be able to get all the models I wanted until Lamley screwed it up.  That hype machine could really tone it down a bit.

Bastards.

Hot Wheels Nissan Skyline H/T 2000GT-X (2015 Road Trippin')

Just Released: The Hot Wheels Road Trippin' Nissan Skyline H/T 2000 GT-X is now out in Australia...

By // No comments:

This is a model that many of us are anticipating, and we are happy to report that our friends in Australia get first dibs.

The Hot Wheels Road Trippin' Nissan Skyline H/T 2000 GT-X has appeared at some small stores in Australia, and our friend AnMinh To (@minh427 on Instagram) was able to snag one.  He sent over pics of the card (front and back), as well as some fantastic photos of the model at all angles.

We like what we see.  While a plain Hako is better than an overly tampo'd Hako, that is not what the Road Trippin' series is about.  And considering that, it looks really nice.  The deco is simple and very Japanese in style, and the color and wheels look nice.

Many in the States have found the Road Trippin' R34 Skyline, and the Hakosuka should be following soon.  In the meantime, you Lamley Readers from Australia can just make us jealous...

Thanks Minh.

First Look: Hot Wheels Zamac Nissan Skyline H/T 2000GT-X, '70 Chevy Chevelle, and '67 Custom Mustang...

Happy to have these.

The Walmart Zamacs are a little more exclusive than maybe we think.  Of course they are only exclusive to Walmart.  But even then, many Walmarts get the batch that is supposed to contain the Zamacs, but they aren't there.  We have already seen many people reporting N case Walmart finds, but with no Zamacs at all.

That has happened to us before.  The final batch of last year's Zamacs never hit stores around here, and only one store got the batch containing the AE86 Corolla and Special Edition Camaro.  We aren't complaining, because it is nice when the Zamacs are a little hard to get.

But it does make us nervous when we are anticipating a Zamac batch as much as Batch N.  Of course that is no secret.  There is a Skyline, and that is all that has to be said.  But the Chevelle is a casting I am VERY fond of, and the Mustang is also a real looker.

Well, we are good, as I found the batch today, and all three Zamacs were there, along with a handful of green Kenmeri's.  All is well here, and we hope all of you out there who hope to find them are successful as well.

Not much else to say about these, other than posting the pics.  We love the Zamacs, and hope they return to Walmart in 2015.  There is an enormous list of models we would love to see get the Zamac treatment, just like the Hako, a casting that gets to really show off its details in unpainted form.
